Verder Scientific UK is located in the heart of the Peak District operating out of the Carbolite Gero’ manufacturing facility in Hope.  We are a Team of 20 people covering application and sales support, service and back office.

In our UK facility, we have an application laboratory equipped with many of our brands' equipment. It is possible to organize demonstrations at our laboratories and at client sites, and samples can be sent to us for various types of analysis.

Thanks to the support of our specialists and product managers, it is possible to organize demonstrations both in person and via Teams.

History of Verder Scientific UK

Founding and Early Years (1938-1950s): Carbolite was established in Sheffield, England, initially focusing on producing laboratory furnaces. The company quickly gained a reputation for high-quality products.

Expansion and Innovation (1960s-1980s): During this period, Carbolite expanded its product range to include industrial furnaces and ovens. The company also invested in research and development, leading to innovations in furnace technology.

Global Reach (1990s-2000s): Carbolite continued to grow and began exporting its products worldwide. The company established a strong presence in international markets, becoming a trusted name in the industry.

Verder Acquire Carbolite (2012): As a Verder business Carbolite’s global reach increases

Retsch move to Hope (2013): To bring more synergy with the wider group the Retsch UK office move to Carbolite’s facility lab spaces are installed to enable customers to run samples and for process development.

Verder Scientific UK formed (2020): As the group expanded and more product lines came under Verder Scientific, the need to create a legal entity grew stronger.  The Carbolite Gero team and newly formed Verder Scientific Team all report through one team.

MRB become the second VSUK brand (2021) : the newly formed MRB becomes the next brand to join VSUK, made up of 3 (now 4) businesses supplying material characterisation equipment.

Qness and Eltra join VSUK (2025): With 5 o the six brands now looked after by VSUK we are able to offer comprehensives support across a range of applications and products.
